The only time I ever experienced U2 performing Miss Sarajevo live was, of course, at their Sarajevo show in late 1997. I wasn't even there, but i remember being quite moved when they played it in front of 100,000 screaming Bosnians, as I listened to the satellite broadcast on my radio.
Fast forward nearly a decade later and I happen to be visiting some family in Holland. I saw a couple of Vertigo shows in the US, but felt I needed to experience it in a stadium setting. My cousin and I set off to see this show and, from out of nowhere, U2, for the second time only, performed Miss Sarajevo.
The performance was so moving I nearly wept. Bono's take on Pavarotti's call for amore was brilliantly executed. I hope this song becomes a Vertigo tour staple when they bring it back to the US.
