I had great seats inside the arena, and it was the first show indoors I can ever remember where the audience stood the entire time. Even joked about doing height checks to be sure we could see over each other's heads.
Although I loved Lone Justice when they were together, the best opening act of all time was the playing of John Lennon's cover of " Stand by Me". Maybe that influenced U2 to open the shows up with the song further down the tour. But the audience picked up on the song and sang the chorus, 20,000 strong.
The band must have been right at the stage steps, how could they miss hearing it, and right before the lights burst onto the audience during "Where the Streets.." Bono shouted out " this is the New Jersey Meadowlands" and the combination of spotlights and music was unforgettable.
During "Bad" someone tried to run onstage and was yanked off. Bono seemed to want to stop the security, and when he couldn't, punched his water cups when he left. We didn't know if it was a planned exit or not, and even the band looked at each other. The audience picked up the "let it go" refrain until "October". Later when a girl jumped onstage during "Pride" things were better, and she hugger Bono and wrapped her legs around his waist while he sang.
Not a lot of stage raps, but a lot of ringing guitars. Edge did remark that Bono's shirt looked like a dress.
