This was my third show this tour. Have to agree with previous posts regarding Charlotte's less than optimal sound quality and the odd crowd dynamic. For me (section 201 front) Larry's bass pedal seemed to overshadow everything for most of the show, though Edge's guitar was too shrill at times too, and there was indeed way too much sloshed up drinking, with folks staggering out during ballads for bathrooms and (more) beer. I'll never get the whole "get pissed at the show" bit. Anyway, the band themselves were spot on. Bono seemed a bit tired, and I wondered if he intended a longer encore before losing the song a bit in "Stuck"...But what a blistering pace they've set, so who can fault their being tired? Highlights for me included the funked up "Vertigo" (with those nice Beatles snippets thrown in), "Original," and "Until"--"Streets" was also really strong. Lowlights included the rather bland fan presence on stage--can't blame the little boy from being stunned by the moment, but "santa" and "the dancer"...When all's said, though, this was a u2 show, and that's the best in rock and roll since the Beatles--I suspect, in fact, the best since rock and roll.
