Altough I like "Return of the Stingray Guitar" as an intro, I don't think Beautiful Day was a nice opener. After such an exciting welcoming from the portuguese fans, Beautiful beggining is very quite!
I always thought that Get on your Boots should be the opener for this tour. Not only because is very rock and roll, like Vertigo was in Vertigo Tour and Elevation in Elevation Tour.
Nevertheless, the show started, with the crowd craving for some U2's best after a 5 year absence from Portugal. Very rocky gig, with I will follow, Elevation, Until the End of The World, Get on your boots bringing out the power in Edge's guitar.
Magnificent, live, is wonderfull and the 2 new songs U2 played are also very efficient. This time the political speeches was left for the videowall and Bishop Tutu and some Amnesty International supporters in stage during Walk On. Better this way. 5 years ago, was too much.
Bono and the guys were very loose and outgoing making some remarks about Coimbra and its university, one of oldest in the world, saying themselves never went to university, but there they were.
the space station came down to earth after "A Little While" and "Vertigo" rocked the stadium completely! AMAZING!
Encore, Streets, epic as always. Second encore...and here comes my broken heart: U2 didn't played Ultraviolet. Instead they've chosen Hold me, Thrill me...altough the song is amazing, i was waiting for 17 years to listen to it. :(
Bono called us "what a noisy, noisy crowd" removing his earpiece to indulge him with some moments of pure wonder.
6 stars out of 5 as always. Was expecting some more songs from the album (Breathe, No Line on the Horizon and Unknown Caller weren't there :S ) and Pride wasn't played...
Still, it's U2 at their best!
