It's the following morning from attending Earl's Court on 21st August 2001. What can I say? Stunned! Completely blown away! It's only my third U2 concert and by far the best, most emotional concert I have ever attended. I have even more respect for Bono turning up after his dad dying that day, obviously a man of strong character. I heard later that the concert was pending waiting an official nod for its go ahead, may be this could explain the very bad organisation in the queue outside, so haphazard it defied belief! Didn't bother me though as I was in the heart with a few mates at the left/back side so at points was about 2 metres from Bono and Edge which was mind blowing. Bono was in tears after Stuck in a Moment before Stay and hugged Edge right in front of us. I really felt for him at this moment. Too much happened in the concert to write down, Kite was amazing, Sunday Bloody Sundy nearly ripped the roof off, Stay was magnificent, Streets? Well what can I say, I nearly flew out of the arena, what a sight! Being in the heart you get to see what its like from the band's perspective almost, what a feeling it must be for them. The Fly was out of this world, Bono running around the heart and landing on the screen at the right is a really good way to end the set.
Too many highlights for me, just a great day, reeling from sunburn at the moment!
I'm not too sure if I agree that it was the Americans who go the maddest during concerts, we and all around us from the UK were jumping around like maniacs. I think at one point during Gone, one guy in front of me was going to bounce right through the ceiling.
Anyway, thanks U2, wicked gig!
