U2 Tours (formerly part of AtU2): A Comprehensive Guide To U2’s Live Performance History

by Simon the Pieman (London)

The best gig I've seen for years last night at Earls Court. Saw them in Birmingham last week and they were fantastic as usual, but last night was simply awesome, partly because I was only 5 yards from where Bono spent most of the gig (on the heart), but mainly because Bono's father had just died and the emotion was clear to all.

Without describing how this affected him (how do I know? I can't begin to imagine), suffice to say that he was on fire. Even more than usual.

Highlights included:
- Where the streets have no name (I've seem them play this many times and this tour is simply the best - if you see them you must look around the arena when it kicks in fully - absolutely everyone loses it a this point),
- Kite (dedicated to Bono's dad),
- The Fly (great heavy guitar version),
- One (a beautiful song, performed beautifully),
- Bullet the Blue Sky (you could just FEEL the anger)
- When will I see you again? (solo Bono + guitar, near the end, I assume for his dad, very touching)

The best live band in the universe, giving one of the best performances they've ever given, under difficult circumstances (understatement....). Respect goes out.
