Seeing U2 live is always fantastic! They had a great mix of classics along with 'No Line on the Horizon' songs. In my opinion, 'Elevation' was the best as they really got the crowd rocking with the 'woo hoo' part! There's no mistaking Bono's style with the woo hoos! The crowd mimicks it right on key (or is it off key?).
My friends had an extra ticket and invited me to go with them. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We were in section 250 on The Edge's side and had a great view. It was worth the drive from SC to see my friends and U2!
This show was good for a foggy, overcast Tuesday night. The Vertigo tour in 2005 at Phillips Arena was on a Saturday night. I think the day of the week has a lot to do with crowd involvement. Plus the Georgia Dome just isn't that great for acoustics. I could not understand the words to the opening act Muse, but it improved when U2 took the stage.
From the first time I saw them in Atlanta in 1985 to 2005 when I saw them twice (Atlanta and Boston), U2 has ALWAYS, ALWAYS ended the concert with '40'. The crowd continues the song even after the lights come up and everyone leaves. It's a goosebump moment. It was a little disappointing that U2 didn't perform it last night.
'Get on Your Boots' had a great beat and was easy to dance to. ;) I agree with some of the other posters that the crowd may not have been familiar with the new songs. But 'Breathe' was a great opener and 'Magnificent' was just that.
Bono had the crowd to count in 'Vertigo' -- unos dos tres catorce! Fun, fun, fun!!
The video screen was great to see them up close. You could really see the intensity and concentration as Larry and the others performed. It was really cool when the 360 screen expanded during 'City of Blinding Lights'.
All in all, U2 performed an incredible and stunning show! I'm grateful to my friends for inviting me.
