I managed to avoid spoilers until this show, my first of the tour. I was absolutely estatic when they played Electric Co, The Ocean, and yowza-ed when I heard the beginning riffs of Zoo Station.
The first part of the concert was full of energy and my shouts of surprised glee, but the 2nd half didn't seem to have the same vibe. I didn't sing along to several hits like Pride, Streets (@U2 is plotzing), One, SBS, and others because they're tired songs. I know U2 plays these for the causual fans, but seriously, boys, the dead horse called and said get off.
This tour is made with 70% recycled Elevation, 10% Zoo TV with the dzzingly-fast random word sequence, and 20% new material. The stage setup (screens and elipse) is Elevation with a lighted shower curtain instead of rising screens. One major difference is Larry's hair, which, to put it mildly, does not become him.
This tour lacks energy and the vibe of Elevation because of (I think) the GA line seperation of u2.comhaves and the u2.comhavenots, and the random elipse selection. I noticed several people in the elipse who didn't seem to care that The Ocean was being played beautifully, or understand the surge of electricity through the crowd for Electric Co (har).
Overall, I had a great time. Venue staff were great and I made even more U2 pals. And everyone should know that @U2's Answer Guy is rude - he refused to take money for ever-expensive gas. I have the last laugh, though, as he never noticed that I hid money in his car. Take THAT, AG! HA!
Hello, hello, Seattle...
