As a veteran of 5 U2 tours (15 shows), I can say this one show left quite a lot on the table. Numerous other people have noted that the crowd wasn't "into" the show.....well, there's a very good reason for that. THE SOUND WAS HORRIBLE for at least half the songs. Something was going on from the very start as I noticed Bono having trouble with his ear monitors....he seemed unable to decide if he was better off with them or without them. Since most of U2's songs are very bass-heavy to begin with, the fact that the bass was overblown made the show very muddy except for a few songs. At times, it seemed that only Larry and Adam were playing, and I was surprised the sound was crap because U2 have put on some awesome shows at HP Pavilion before.
It wasn't the band or the fans....it was the sound. Here's hoping tonight the guys on the sound boards get it right.
