I’ve enjoyed reading every one of these fan reviews (even the less than positive ones) because reading each one brought me back to that most amazing night.
I’ve been a U2 fan for a long time but this is the first concert that I have been able to attend and (like the previous reviewers who were attending their first), I was in heaven. This was such an amazing show.
Our tickets were behind the stage and we were a bit concerned that we would not have a great experience. But wow! If anyone who has seats behind the stage for any of the upcoming shows, don’t despair. The stage is so close to the seats behind the stage that we could see EVERYTHING with the naked eye. The only seats that were closer to the stage were those in the ellipse. We were right in the back of the stage, 4 rows up. Our section was rocking and never sat down, never stopped clapping, jumping, screaming and singing at the top of our lungs. Maybe that is why Bono kept looking back and singing to us. We rewarded him with screams every time he looked our way. The only thing we missed from our section was the full effect of the light show and the video screens. Our seats were so low that we couldn’t see the screens (but we saw more with the naked eye—and in living color). The light show was very interesting in that our view of the light screen was THROUGH IT. We did not see pictures or words but an amazing display of lights that changed colors in odd patterns. Most of you saw the words and pictures displayed on the light as a screen—we saw a rock concert through a psychedelic light display. It was like watching U2 with a huge fireworks display superimposed. I would not trade our seats for anything. We saw everything, we even were able to wave and scream good-bye to them as they left the stage door and walked into the tunnel—Bono in what looked like a full-length hooded terrycloth robe. They all looked up at our screaming faces and waved to us and smiled. Now that was priceless.
I don’t know why the sound was bad for some fans, but the sound behind the stage was really good, I though. Maybe because there was a set of smaller speakers for the sections behind the stage and it was a smaller area to cover which cut down the distortion?
I could say more, but this was truly an amazing and wonderful night for me.
Thanks, U2!
