What an amazing, energizing and powerful experience. From the time we entered the lobby of HSBC at around 5pm to get in line for floor seating, the energy flowing throughout the room; and the entire city; was electric. We got into line and spent the time chatting with some other fans- and as everyone says, u2 fans ARE the nicest and coolest fans in the world. Around 6:30 we began the process of moving forward, and having staff scan our tickets in hopes of seeing the coveted “vertigo” symbols appear on the computer screen. Out of our group of four, my ticket as well as our friend’s was a winner. It was like winning the lottery. We were ECSTATIC. A man with a camouflaged kilt ushered us into another line to get our ellipse wristband.
The show was a constant rush of energy. City of Blinding Lights, Miss Sareivo, Original of the Species, Gloria, and 40 were my favorites, but the entire show had so much heart and power. We were about four people back from the stage on the left, and the Edge was so interactive and playful with the crowd. During the beginning riffs of Elevation (there was a slow extended intro), I was beaming so hard at him and we caught glances and he smiled back. For a die-hard u2 fan, that meant the world! I was proud to represent Buffalo to u2 once again- it was a fantastic crowd and the room was on fire.
