Ok, it's been a couple of weeks since this show but I thought I'd add my little review.
Amazing show! My second show of the tour (Toronto night 3 the other one) and the superior concert of the two (even though both shows were excellent). We had GA tickets for both shows but this time we were lucky enough to get in the ellipse and we were 3 people back right in front of Bono. This maybe why I thought this was the better show as we had a fantastic view of the band throughout the whole concert. I read a few of the earlier reviews and people have said that the band seemed tired...well not from where I was standing they didn't! Bono in particular seemed thrilled with the reaction of the crowd and was smiling to himself a lot of the time. He voice tonight was perfect and much stronger than the Toronto show. I also thought the setlist tonight was better paced and had more momentum. Lots of Lennon and Beatles snippets in the show and 'Instant karma' of course...which threatened to breakdown at one point but was funny all the same! Another funny moment was at the end of 'Gloria'(I think) when Bono said "1982...where are The Flock Of Seagulls now?" with a cheeky grin on his face!
Another highlight was Bono running at top speed around the ellipse after Edge during 'Until The End...' and then still belting out a long vocal note right afterwards even though I felt sure he was going to collapse!
When U2 are on this kind of form there is no-one to top them. The Vertigo tour was my first since the Zoo TV tour as due to one reason or another I missed out on Pop and Elevation.
While it didn't quite match the thrill of my first U2 show as a 14 year old in 1987 (nothing will), it still managed to give this now 32 year old a few tears and a sore throat afterwards, and you can't ask for anymore than that!
Seen lots of other artist and groups shows this year but this was the very best of them all.
