Don't get fooled if you purchased 'Behind Stage' seating. The string of lights were so well done that I could not complain of any obstructed views. The sound was a bit heavy but my 40 year old ears benefit from plugs which dampen the reverb perfectly. I'd nearly dismissed the band in the 90's when U2 embraced celebrity with too much abandon. But last night took me back, way, way back (as fellow Irishman V.Morrison put it) to the sounds and pure joy I experienced from their June 1983 show at Colorado's Red Rocks ampitheater. Like then, the Vertigo tour boils it down to a hope-filled sermon with Reverend Bono on his catwalk pulpit, and accompanied by his mates who clearly enjoy doing what they've done for over 20 years. If only Sunday mornings in America could be like this - a pulsating mass of humanity basking in the raucous truths of words and music as they reflect the creator's glory in all He has made.
As Bono emphasized in a call and response with the crowd, "Hope exists"
