Another show blown out of the park by the boys, Amazing how they can make a huge football stadium seem so intimate.
Checked in the GA line Wednesday night and was 120th in line, came back at 4am for a long long day in the GA line, but got my spot on the outside rail by Edge's side for a perfect vantage point. Weather was perfect, no humidity and a breeze.
To contradict an earlier review, the security was great with the line and were very helpful and polite. The only problem cam when they let too many of the line into the stadium at the same time and the nice narrow orderly line became very wide as we were walked down the corridor and then shoved into a narrow tunnel to the field which got ugly quick. But no one was hurt thankfully. The rail security was great also and they didn't sweat the small stuff (after grabbing a guys video camera from the inner circle, the head security guard told him to give it back and not worry about it). The guards on our side were talkative and even handed out earplugs to those who wanted them. The fans outside the rail behind us were great with no real pushing or hassles.
The show started about 15-20 minutes late, but certainly not related to security as the band came in late. We heard them do Magnificent at the sound check and figured the song had returned and we were right. Again to contradict an earlier post, the setlist was not shorter in anyway. The Fly gave way to Maginificent.
As usual the band gave its all and had the stadium rocking and on its feet for the entire show. Had some first timers with me (some first to this tour, some first to U2) and they all raved about the show to no end. Great having my close friends who were there with me at JFK in 1987 return these many years later, but now with our teenage kids in tow who loved every minute of the show.
Highlights - UTEOTW, Still haven't found, Crazy remix (will really miss that on future tours), Always love Streets (though still feel Elevation tour version had more punch).
That's it for me for this tour, looking forward to what they have in store next.....
