How could full days of waiting in line ever pay off? When the event you've been waiting for is as unforgettable, poignant and powerful as the one on friday night.
It was always taken for granted that if anyone would take the right stance on recent world events, it would be Bono. Who else could meet a prime minister, a president, a pope? Who else could lead 25,000 teenagers in Hallelujahs? His words to "New York" were modified, but he didn't have to change his colours for everyone to realize his sincerity. Bono has always been a conscience, and an outspoken one, for me, and for many others I'm sure.
Musically, this show had it all. "Angel of Harlem" was absolutely electric (literally as well), "Bullet the Blue Sky" was unforgettable, and "Beautiful Day" confirmed their sheer power over the audience. My favourite song was "Where the Streets Have no Name", always a favourite. It was especially moving with Bono praying right at the finale of the song.
Montreal, Montreal. When will they write a song for us. I was so proud with the reception our city gave. Loud enough to stun Bono, and flabberghast the Edge. Mature enough to listen when called upon to do so. We didn't relent all night, energy that was there even during the first two shows. It was nice that Bono spoke of U2's love for the city. It was great that our city got to show our love of U2.
(And now the short review)
Great show. Clayton was awesome.
