This was my second Vertigo show. I came from Croatia with my friend on wednesday. Since I had G.A. tickets I had a different experience, than from the last time in Vienna when I had a sitting position.We waited outside the stadium from 11 a.m., and we survived entrance and stampedo,in one moment I was pressed against the steel gate with main part of my body inside and one arm outside the gate. We survived running down the stairs and across the field just to be near the stage. And it was worth it, we were on the right side of the elipse in 5th row. I just couldn't belive that I manage to get so close. We waited patiently, the opening acts were O.K. especially the Kaiser Chiefs which singer did a good job warming up the audience, Snow Patrol had some difficulties, I could see that they are nervous, but they were O.K. Their songs are slower a kind of non lift up songs unlike the Kaiser which songs are faster and they make you jump around.
And then,they came, and they were right in front of me, I just couldn't belive it, I could see the expressions on their faces, I was fascinated, they definitely "shine on". The set list was the same as in Vienna, except the snippets, and "Bono's talk", but I didn't care, the only thing that metters is to be a part of the show. Again, Mirical Drug, Yahweh, Running to stand still and Still haven't found hit me the most, and of course All I want is you and With or without you. Elevation is real lift up, Bono teases the crowd, and you wait and wait for song to explode, and then it explodes. I'm fascinated with Bono's performance of Sometimes, you can see that he is into it again and again. Now I realise that U2 have a perfect concept of the show , show is like a story , story with begining , with meaning, with peak and than closing. Highest point of the show is of course Streets, the crowd went nuts, all hands were in the air (mine were the whole time). It was great to hear Zoo set in Berlin,it was kind of special, but Berlin crowd disappointed me, Zoo set is their set, Achtung baby is about Berlin, show some energy. Bono made us sing Happy Birthday for some young lovers, that was also cool. Closing with Vertigo really works out, I know they have many songs, why play one song twice, but it works, and the second version is better then the first. Amazing show, I was so in to it, I'm still under their spell although I'm back in daily routine, job etc, see you guys in Italy.
