It's been nearly 20 years since my first U2 show and I've seen every tour since the War tour. For the past two months I read about each show with anticipation of the lone performance in Detroit. As a result, I arrived at the Palace expecting something special. What I didn't except was something that special. You can read all the reviews, articles, setlists and interviews, but until you are inside the heart it's impossible to understand the power of their performance.
What set this show apart from the previous tours was the passion in Bono's voice. Before the show I was concerned about his voice because of reports that he was having trouble Monday night in Montreal. My concerns were quickly erased. Bono sang with conviction I haven't heard since the Unforgettable Fire tour. It's was if he once again had something to prove. The band was tight
