Great show...Bad venue.
I guess I should first start by saying that this is my fourteenth U2 concert in 9 states, 2 countries, and 15 years. I know many of you have seen them many more times, but I felt it necessary to express that I am not a virgin to their shows.
This like any shows I have seen since WAR left the fans in awe of their talent and constant ability to keep their material and ways of delivering it fresh. It was Joshua Tree on crack while being PopMart with ruffies.
Our seats in 202(directly in the back of the stadium from the stage, second deck)were a drastic change from my prior four shows where I could touch the band at any moment. I was interesting in the aspect of being able to look down at the stage as though I was in heaven, unfortunately God needs to work on the acoustics. Though the show was visualy stimulating without causing wide spread seizures, the audio from our section was horrific. For two hours I had to listen to a sea of people looking at each other trying to pick up on what song he was singing. With the four giant screens showing individual band members in black and white, I felt as though I was watching Rattle and Hum while the dog stepped on the mute button. This is not such an unusual thing for me to do on a Friday night, but I don't normally pay $300 for my girlfriend and I to do so.
As far as I could tell, the rest of the show was pretty amazing as always. Though a little shorter than expected, all thirteen people I attended the show with left hearing every song that was sung in the car on the way to the show.
Thank you to U2 for another wonderful evening to remember and next time I will try to listen when you say the best seats in the house are the $45 seats.
