Another great show. This was the second time I have seen U2 on this tour, each time at Reunion Arena. Last night's show certainly topped last April's. I can't answer why, maybe the April show was early into the tour, maybe I liked last night's setlist better, I don't know. In any event, the show was incredible as always.
Highlights for me included a sizzling version of Until The End of the World, a classic New Year's Day, and Out of Control. Streets did not disappoint, and the one verse of Whose Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses at the end of Bad was unexpected, as was an acoustic In God's Country. While I had heard about the posting of the Sept. 11 victims' names during One, I could not really appreciate it until I saw it for myself. Very powerful, and more importantly, very sincere. U2 may be the only band that could pull off such a tribute. Bono made several other tributes to the US during the show, all very sincere and quite humbling. While I realize that he does this routine in almost every venue now, he seems quite genuine.
I did feel that Bono's voice was strained most of the show, but my hat is off to the guy. He still continued to try to cut loose, and there were some moments when he sounded absolutely fantastic. How much of all of this was strain in his voice versus poor Reunion Arena acoustics is debatable.
It's off to KC now for my last show.
