Well, this was my first Elevation Tour concert, (Saw them twice on Popmart) Me and my three friends got to Rupp at around 8-8:30 AM to get in the GA line and the tremendous security who really should be thanked, asked us at about 9:30 how the fans wanted to do the GA system... so the first 15-20 of us decided the best way was to get in a single file line, one door. There were some fans who were at the Miami show and they had that input, so thank you to them. So, they said they would begin wristbanding us at 4:00... at 3:50 BONO CAME OUT... Now he was unreachable, because of the way the GA line was set up, but he came all the way up to the GA line... and thanked everyone for waiting. My friend yelled, "Play Luminous Times!!!," which he turned around and waved at him. So we were really psyched up for this show, absolutely ecstatic... Then they wristbanded us... At 6:05 they let us into the heart, and if any venue security is reading this for future shows, CALL the RUPP ARENA security and ask them how they did the GA line... it was absolutely perfect... So me and my friends were 16-20 into the heart, and we steaked out a spot on the rail directly in front of where the Edge would be... Now, for the last 10 hours all we had been talking about was how we were going to get into the heart and how exciting it was going to be. We made signs, and no we were inches from the stage... front row... WOW!!! So PJ Harvey wasn't bad, but the mix was way off it seemed, and my left ear was nearly put out of commision, but I survived. We're now waiting with our Banner, which was an old banner from the Unforgettable Fire era and our 7 signs.... They came out and played two hours and three minutes, the setlist has already been posted so I'll leave that out... The Edge was winking and nodding to us all night long, and we even got Adam and Larry to acknolwedge our signs, to which Adam mouthed "Thank You." The first sign that caught Bono's attention was our "Dream Out Loud" sign, which he gave a nod to, then one of my friends, in the pink dress for all you who were at the show, waved her, "Will you take me SLOW DANCING sign," which caught Bono's attention, anyway, the next thing we know, during Stuck in a Moment, she was on stage crying because she was so excited, and Bono was singing to her... This was amazing... I can't really explain how cool it was... If you read the story from the Lexington Herald Leger... one of which is about the U2 fans, I'm one of the friends of the girl that got on stage, which made us all feel good when we read it this morning. So we thought that was the end, but no.... We also made a sign that said, "We Shine Like Stars in the Spring Night" To which we raised numerous times throughout the show, and to the Edge during With or Without You... and he nodded and Bono as he was singing on his back sang "Will shine like stars," not like old days, but still it was an extra addition, that I believe was a result of our sign. Finally as they walked off the stage after Walk On... I got a hand slap from the Edge and that made the night, if it wasn't already the most incredible night of my life before that... My advice... BRING SIGNS... with good powerful stuff... I.E. Dream Out Loud, which they really seemed to take too... Also, most say the tip of the heart is the best, I disagree and say the front of the stage is the best because if you can make eye contact with the band and get them to see your signs, you'll get a really solid response from them. They'll appreciate it. Anyway... Bad/40/Street pretty much made me cry Stay was absolutely beautfiul. All the new songs were awesome... really powerful... Walk On, In A Little While and Kite were highlights... and Elevation with the lights on works sooooo well. He added something at the end of Beautiful Day, not the usual Goal Is Soul, hopefully someone elses review will be able to tell me what that was... The Fly was great... Mysterious Ways was cool...One = Perfect, Pride is the most classic singalong... Sorry if this is absolutely disjointed and crazy I feel as good as I've felt in my life, and that is not a joke... Everyone who is going to see them... be ready for the experience of a lifetime... WOW!!!! C.J.
