Achtung Germany!!!! U2 arrives after a long wait. If anyone cares, I am an American born man living in Germany. I moved to Germany because of my job and my boss handed me U2 tickets as a bonus. And what a treat it was. I have read reviews by fans and critics. Some have called U2's Vertigo tour classic and some have called it mediocre. City of Blinding Lights harmonized the stadium as 50,000 people were mesmerized by a melody. I would like to dedicate this review to the songs that will not be considered highlights. Never in my life have I heard a guitar fill a stadium as Edge's instrument did during Miracle Drug. The same could be said for Electric CO.
Sometimes You Can't Make it On your Own has this awesome effect for a guitar sound as I have no idea how Edge produces this sound. Maybe, it's simple. Maybe, that's why Bono calls him the scientist of U2. The Vertigo Tour belongs to the Edge. This is the humble genius who has shown band after band how to fill up arenas and stadiums with beautiful sounds. Any great guitarist can buy all the same equipment Edge has and try to play as he plays. It cannot be done. The Edge is a technician. Maybe, a magician. The Vertigo tour demonstrates the classic U2 sound. Moreover, the tour highlights the ridiculous amount of memorable guitar riffs this man has generated. I wanted the whole band to stop playing and I just wanted to hear Edge provide emprical data for my head to analyze.
Tonight, I saw science and divinity meld into one.
