My first U2 concert experience - awesome.
Muse was actually much better than I expected (I'm 34, hadn't heard of them) - a great sound for a 3-man band. The guitar and bass were obviously, as Bono put it, a rare talent. Most of the teens I saw there were wearing Muse, not U2.
The crowd was not as into the show as I'd hoped, but I'd admit that was what I was expecting. A lot of acedemics there just to be there. I didn't bring a camera... and felt like the only one in my section who didn't. Everyone there to hear the show or take pictures to prove they were there? Leave your camera at home and go participate. Yes, all the other reviewers were right - folks sat down during "Your Blue Room"... eesh. Maybe alcohol would have made a differece...
The band was great. The set was great - awesome choices - wouldn't change a thing. Ultraviolet and Elevation were my personal favorites. Awesome.
I will disagree with a previous reviewer about being behind the stage (also section 115). The band was not really very "360" from my perspective - the stage was. I don't think Adam came back ever. Edge did once. Bono a few times. All things considered, Larry did the best - kit revolved several times, and he even walked back during Crazy remix. Have been behind the stage for one other show (RageATM, Detroit) and they paid much more attention. Anyway, I watched quite a bit on the big, no, enormous 360 screen which was good enough for me to enjoy it... ah, just to be there, and I don't need photographic proof...
Thanks U2 for coming to Virginia!
