Well, firstly, arrived at SECC at 12noon waited till 6.30 to get in, i had ick of the Heart to go to. Me and 3 others went to Edges side of the stage, but choose to go further back to get better view of the whole stage plus Bono usually wanders about on the Heart out-line.
Cosmic Rough Riders were very, very ordinary, they expected good reception becasue they were from Glasgow but Scottish fans dont tolerate supports much. Bands were booed off at ZooTV, Zooropa and PopMart. They survived, JUST.
U2 came on, nuff said. Elevation is as good an opener as any song has ever been. Not for a while ahve so many U2 fans loved the same song since maybe, Achtung Baby days. Beautiful Day, again was so great. Looked forward to Until The End Of The World, Edge and Bono's Bull Fight was amazing, i was 6 feet away from it, i was laughing and cheering, absolutley brilliant. Again, like my other Elevation gig in Manchester they followed with cool fun tunes like Discotheque and a nice sing-along to Staring At The Sun. Kite was touching as Bono talked about his Dad, old Bobo!
Surpirse was Gone, loved this, it was a case of loudest wins and Gone gets my vote, ouch! my ears!
Cant say too much about the tilogy of reat songs such as New York, I Will Follow and Sunday Bloody Sunday, they were terrific. Stuck In A Moment was great and eased us into accoustic part of the show. Lovely In A Little While, with Edge singing alot more than usuall, and Stay is really good nowadays.
Now the best part of the show, Bad-40-Streets combo, oh my God it is the best!
Get the funky rock songs in after this - Mysterious Ways and The Fly (love new version).
Encore time, Bullet The Blue Sky burst all ear drums! louder! louder! i cried, hahaha. Easy ending to the show with singalongs like With Or Without You, One and a pheonomenal ending in Walk On with lyrics on the wall behind the band. Most stripped own tour since Joshua Tree but best tour ever!
ATYCLB songs make the difference between Elevation and PopMart, they are just better. ATYCLB now U2's second biggest selling album (13 million SO FAR!) behind Joshua Tree.
I dont want U2 to leave this period of time behind!!
