This show was bittersweet in many ways for this long-time fan. Having seen them at The Orpheum Theatre in '81 at 16 years old and never having been able to reproduce that experience until now-in a similar intimate setting-was therapeutic to say the least. Bono made it a point to mention U2's Boston roots and expressed interest in getting the names of all the original fans from their Paradise gigs of old, who were only too happy to jump up and identify themselves. The musical performance was beautiful, energetic and sincere yet brief-just enough of a tease to get the house demanding an encore with thunderous clapping and stomping. The plea went unanswered however and we were left as frustrated as when we were standing in line before the show, but also, simultaneously, left in awe of what we had just experienced. Finally, kudos to 'BCN's Carter Allen for having the wisdom and plain ol' great taste in music, to turn Boston on to U2 and thanks 'BOS for providing the opportunity to win tickets.
