Well, this was really a dream come true.
After waiting under the burning Roman sun for 8 hours, 6 of them standing up, stuck between hundreds of hot and sweaty Italians (not as exciting as it sounds...), being hosed down with water (a very welcoming feeling at that time) and running out of breath to get into the ellipse before it closes, I was there.
And the feeling was amazing. I was right in front of the right b-stage catwalk, and I had a beautiful view of the band, the screens, the crowd, everything. Bono was on fine form, his voice was almost perfect, much better than 4 years ago in Torino. He pulled up an Italian and wispered in his ear something to translate, and the terrified look on that Italian's face (Italians can't speak English at all), was priceless. It turned out he said "Italy and Ireland are getting married tonight". Well, the Greek U2 fan club was there in all its force, so I guess Greece was the best man...
Edge simply rocked, as always, his Bullet the Blue Sky solo was mesmerising, he was in a good mood... Adam was the sweetest thing, walking down the B-stage and smiling at everyone like he knew them. Larry was as smiley as he could get (which means very little) but banged the drums like no one else. Miss Sarajevo was such a touching moment, and the emotion on Bono's face, it was obvious, he was feeling it, it wasn't acting. Miracle Drug was beautiful, the graphics are genious! Yaweh is such a winner live! The acoustic playing combined with the heart warming graphics on the screens is such a powerful moment. "We win, we loose, it's perfect".
I certainly felt like I won that night.
