Fantastic show
The 4hr wait outside of the ground to get in was the testing part of the day - isolated to the baking rome heat. But it was all worth it.
There didnt seam to be any organised Queue so when eventualy things got moving around 4pm - there was a frightening push forward. Only 4 narrow doors were opened to cator for thousands eager to make the pit. thankfully i and my mates did but there were people falling to the ground throughout the push forward.
All was worth it when we got in however and i suppose next job was to avoid getting sun stroke before its setting behind the tevere stand side.
Fair play to the guy both outside and inside that kept powerhosing us down.. Crucial!!
Both supporting acts were very good i thought. Maybe the fact that they had most of the capacity enthusiastic crowd in there from the moment the gates open did help their performance
then around 9pm in pitch darkness - the boys arrived on stage. The italians lived up to their billing as the most frenziest of them all. From Vertigo to All i want is you, it was electrifying stuff. the gig did look much different to the croker trilogy due to the dark setting. it gave the gig a more riveting backgrop. Bono was really up for it. he spent most of the night (including all of streets, electic co, SYCMIOYO,)over at his right hand b-stage where we were perched. The vocals were strong throughout. One performed as good as ive seen this tour (previously seen 3 times). the tribute to the pope was class. Zoo station set excelled as usual. All because of you got a huge local reaction. Yahweh was at its consistent charming best. And although on previous nights i was routing for 40 to close the show - not tonight, the crowd wanted the "vertigo encora" - and they werent disappointed.
all in all. an amazing show.
Highlights -> all the songs!!cannot seperate them though hearing Miss Sarajevo for the 1st time did stand out.especially bono's vocals,
with the ommision of Original of the Species the only downer.
A quick comment on the venue - A stadium steeped with history, blew me away from both outside and especially once we got in. it is just so big, wide, long and suprisingly very modern in appearance. And the accoustics problems were non existent tonight
As for the guy who critised the band and the show in his review - here is some irish advice
"go and get a mass said for yourself!"
