I'm 54 years old and I brought my 84-old-mother to the show - she's an adventurous one and I wanted to share something with her that means so much to me. That alone made this concert very special to me, and that it didn't rain on my poor old mom made it even better!
We had wonderful front-of-section seats, almost center, and the sideways placement of the claw put the front of the stage much closer to the audience than it is at most concerts. (Sorry, it put more people behind the stage too.)
Bono was talkative almost to a fault early on, clearly loving the Miami audience and somewhat dazed by the heat and humidity. It was a great set list, covering all the hits but throwing in a couple of curve balls that are hard to explain to Mom, like Hold Me Thrill Me. New animation for Miss Sarajevo (new to me any way) added to the poignancy of the song and the opera segment soared.
A personal dream come true was hearing North Star sung faultlessly - I love this song and was thrilled to hear it in concert. I wasn't counting on it showing up in North America on the last leg of the tour so I feel very lucky.
See my blog at http://explainu2.blogspot.com/ for the song journal that I used to get my mom psyched up for the show. Although I made her wear earplugs so she couldn't really hear much of the lyrics I think she really connected with a lot of the songs - at least she was on her feet dancing like she got it!
