I've seen U2 in Brisbane everytime since the Lovetown tour of 89. When I saw that show in 89 I was a 15 year old boy who was absolutly amazed and excited by what I saw. Then Zoo tv just blew everything away, Popmart, well??. Then the Vertigo show at ANZ in 06, loved the inclusion of Zoo Station and the Fly, but otherwise I thought it was a bit ordinary and I wasn't going to go again this time around. But I'm pleased I did. It was better than Vertigo but I left Suncorp feeling there was something missing in there performance. I thought edge was too loud most of the night, and Larry's druming as great as it is, has changed. I felt they are a different band than I remember. Where songs like End of the World used to rock along, at Suncorp it just went along, and Magnificent, great song but boring live. The opening few stadium songs, Beautiful Day, Elevation, New Years Day, I could do without, and I was thinking at the time I would much rather hear One Tree Hill, Running To Stand Still, Stuck In A Moment or Bad, and then they played Bad, which was the highlight for me, even if Bono mucked up the song. Loved hearing Still HAven't Found. But there were no songs from Zooropa (Stay) or Pop (Staring at the Sun, Please) Loved the Hold ME Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me and the opening song too. I am pleased I went, but I think what I want to see from U2 is not who they are anymore, and that's not their fault. At least I've still got the old CD's and the ZOO TV DVD.
