Sydney,Australia
Having made the trek across the Tasman from Nz to see my second u2 concert I can only say they cemented my fandom with a show that rocked. I was on the floor of the Sydney footfall stadium which was the place to be as the view of the screens and set were brilliant. The fans around me were excellent too really getting into the music and having a good time. Can’t remeber the order of the songs as I was too busy screaming, dancing, standing on my chair to get a better look. and getting wet.
Following the tour through the wire and fan sites didn’t diminsh the staggering size of the stage. I thought zootv was big but this was something else, bit more colorful but big nevertheless. No wonder they aren’t bringing the tour to my hometown of Auckland (we haven’t got a place big enough to fit the stage).
The moment for me was towards the end when lighting struck Sydney and Bono told them to turn off the lights. There they were four guys playing with a natural lighting show flashing around the oval shape of the stadium, it was almost spirital.
The final song dedicated to Michael Hutchence had us all wondering what a loss to the music world and knowing that the ride was over. Have a made pact with myself to do more than one show on the next tour.
