It's nights like this you see how this band could still be going strong for over 25 years. And that was before an amazing 3rd encore. A fourth even seemed possible, as the house lights stayed off for several minutes. Lots of stuff from the new album, along with the old classics. Highlights included amazing versions of Miss Sarajevo, Bad, and Pride, as well as a third, that's right THIRD, encore of 40, All Because of You, and surprisingly, Fast Cars. And did Bono actually remove his sunglasses!?
Everyone went home happy. My guest from England was likely singing several of tonight's songs all the way back days later. For me, this was my 2nd U2 show, having seen them in Boston on the Elevation Tour. It struck me that this was a more emotionally intense and somewhat toned-down show by comparison. Less stage theatrics and effects with a greater emphasis on the songs and the music. Certainly, not a bad thing!
