Well, back in May I reviewed the first show from the Vertigo tour here in Chicago and I ripped our favorite band badly. There was no energy that night, nothing spontaneous, no fun, it felt like a standard rock show.
After last night the Vertigo tour has been redeemed for me. I have seen U2 7 times including last night and it would be hard for me not to put this show at the top of the list. It was magnificent. The first 20 minutes which were made up of: COBL, Vertigo, Elevation, and Electric Co. were the BEST 20 minutes of any rock show I have ever attended. Each note was spot on perfect and the air in the arena was pure electric. U2 seemed to be having a blast and the audience did as well. Bono stepped up with the energy level and the crowd responded. I won't go into the well documented set list surprises but they were welcome as well. I'm going again tonight and I hope for another magical experience.
