What can I say? This concert will go down as one of the most magical I've ever experienced...

Two weeks prior to the show, my daughter (whom I've sung U2 songs to all her life) asks me, "Daddy, am I ever going to get to see Bono?" I replied, "Of course you will. I'm not sure when, but soon, I promise."

Turns out there was a ticket drop for this show, and it happened that May 20th was her sixth birthday. What was a dad to do? On top of that I dropped a line to someone who comes into contact with the band every time they come to Chicago, and I informed this person of the fact that it was, indeed, my daughter's sixth birthday, and how much she would die if Bono was to wish her a happy birthday. I supplied our seating information, and other information... I was told that the band gets requests like this all the time, and not to hold my breath... I didn't think that this would ever get relayed to the band, let alone Bono himself.

Never underestimate the impact of a small gesture...

As Bono makes his rounds about the ellipse at the beginning of the show, he stops in front of our section and slowly scans the crowd... locks eyes with my daughter, and waves her the peace sign. My daughter was beside herself, asking, "Did you see that Daddy? Bono just waved to me!"

The rest of the night the two of us sang most of the songs together, and I did my best to contain my tears of joy. We had to leave before the second encore, but as we were riding back to the hotel, I asked my daughter what was the best part of the show... the lights? Vertigo? She looked at me and said, "Daddy... it was Bono of course!"

Priceless.
