Point Depot is located in Dublin, Ireland
The Point Depot, also known as Point Theatre or simply the Point, opened in 1988. The buidling opened as a train depot in 1878 and was redeveloped into a concert venue in the 1980's. Prior to its renovation, U2 performed tracks that would appear in the film Rattle and Hum.
U2 closed out an era of sorts with four shows at the Point at the end of 1989 during which Bono famously stated that the band had to go away and "dream it all up again."
The venue closed in 2007 and was redeveloped into the O2 which opened in 2008. The new venue feature some of the facade of the previous building.
