Rage Against the Machine is from Los Angeles and formed in 1991. They cite Public Enemy, the Beastie Boys, and heavy metal acts as musical influences. Their self-titled debut was released in 1992 and granted them a slot playing at Lollapalooza in 1993. Their rap-metal style placed them on the list of VH1's list of 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. The band broke up in 2000 due to internal tensions between members and reunited in 2007 to play at the Coachella music festival.
