It was my first U2 concert and it belongs to the most special and fantastic memories. I went there with very close friends and we bought the tickets one week before the concert took place; it was a very spontaneous decision and because of this very exciting and enthusiastic, the total capacity of fans that could have find place in this airport area (not frequently used military airport) was 140000 ,but they only sold 70000 tickets.
We spent the whole afternoon under the blue sky, laying in the grass, because it was outside, there was really enough place for everybody...
At 10h in the evening the (open air-) concert started, still warm outside, full moon, 10000 stars...
I never imagined the difference between listening to a live-concert and hearing U2 on CD. "Pella docca" everywhere, it touched me like hell, especially when Bono sang totally alone, without somebody who accompanied him, the atmosphere was fantastic, all fans behaving human, all touched by Bono's voice and words and music.
One of the best moments was when Bono told us to sing for him tonight, the "Volare"-song of the Gipsy Kings. But they were all fantastic and when the concert was over (too quickly). I would have liked to turn back time. Hours later I still dreamt of it. And I still do, when I listen to their music.
Viva U2 ! Viva Roma !
