I can't say that I am too happy with the reviews I've been reading. I have to agree with someone earlier who said that a little bit too much criticism seamed to be happening. The worst was the pathetic review by the Toronto Star. I have no problem with people's preferences, likes, or dislikes as far as song lists go; but refering to "elevation" as unimpressive, New York and Kite (one of my favorite songs of the night!!!) as week, and the version of Beautiful Day as poorly performed bothers me. They fail to mention that they had the entire crowd on their feet for a whole show, IN TORONTO!!! Toronto audiences hardly ever stand at all!
I, personally, thought that the set list was spectacular, but with a catalogue as large as theirs, nobody is going to be completely satisified. I also thought that Bono's performance was absolutely spectacular!! He sang (for the VAST MAJORITY of the time) quite well, and had the crowd in his fingertips. The Edge was equally spectacular!! No matter how much I hear him play, I'm blown away by his unique sound. Larry and Adam held their ends down well also.
Furthermore gone were the ridiculous theatrics of the Popmart tour, replaced by a "comfortable" fell, where the audience felt like they were a part of the show.
Ignore all criticism boys, you put on a passionate, exciting show. The highlights of which were Bono's two tributes to Bob Dylan, a spectacular version of Stay, and Edge singing the Falcetto part of IALW (not because Bono couldn't, by the way). All in all, a spectacular show!!
