There really isn't much to add, only to reinforce to what has already been described here.
The atmosphere was one that I hadn't experienced in any of the other seven shows I caught last year. This felt much more like a pilgrimage, with everyone down on the floor exchanging their stories of how far they had come, how they just HAD to be there, etc. Kudos to the Aloha Stadium folks - this venue rocked!
How can you top the double bill we all got to see? U2 has always provided quality opening acts, but this takes the all time cake. Pearl Jam certainly has their devotees as well, and Eddie and his boys played a fever pitch hour long set that kept us gasping for more.
As for U2, how many bands do you know that would interrupt their set cadence to allow a FAN to not only dictate the next song, but also allow him to play their instrument as well? And then pull the song off without a hitch, as if it were planned all along.
Bringing out Billy Joe to recreate the Super Dome event was an excellent surprise. And the ten minute, kick-ass version of Rockin' in the Free World along with Eddie and Mike from PJ obviously blew the crowd away.
First time I got to hear All I Want Is You live, and this was an excellent choice to end the show. I agree with the post that said it was strange when Larry kept his one last drum beat going for more than a minute, almost willing something more to happen.
Thanks to the boys for yet one more memorable experience which adds to a long list.
