Last night's show was the most amazing show I have seen. Ever. Elevation Miami was my eighth show of the tour, and my 2nd of the past 2 days. We drove straight down from Tampa (Where we were just outside the tip of the heart) to Miami where we were just INSIDE the tip of the heart! (I was the guy holding up the Ramone's shirt for a good part of the night.)
Just a side note here, Security / planning at Miami arenas is REALLY BAD! They were pretty unprepared for the lineup of people outside the building so early, and didn't even let us onto the property until noon. However they did work with us slightly, helping us honor the fan #'s, and wristbanding us early as to speed up entry.
I knew the night would be special going into the show, but had no clue how amazing it would be. It started at the end of Garbage's set, when Shirley Manson kicked the drummer off the stage and all of a sudden Larry was up there. He did an awesome job, and the crowd was loving it. Drumming on their songs is a much different thing, as the beats are harder as one song goes...But Larry pulled it off wonderfully.
When the "Cue Songs" came on, People just started going nuts in the heart...And from the beginning of Elevation, I knew the night WAS Special...The band didn't have any more shows to look to, so They held back NOTHING. It was just an amazing thing to see, All of the guys just giving everything they had and more. Beautiful day was amazing, watching Bono make an early loop of the heart while chanting all of the things I think he plans to do as he goes home (I heard "A Glass of Whiskey" in there somewhere) Until The End Of The World was amazing, with the bullfight RIGHT in front of my eyes...Mysterious Ways awas excellent, leading into Out Of Control...It seemed people didn't recognise it at first, but as soon as Edge's Guitar kicked in, everyone was jumping. Sunday Bloody Sunday was tight. Stuck in a Moment & Kite were just 2 amazing songs, but Nothing was better than Next when Bono & Edge came out to the tip o' the heart to play In God's Country. It was just an amazing couple of minutes there. KNockin' On Heaven's door was great, At Tampa the night before, I was standing a couple people away from Matt, and had been near him in line outside, and was glad to see he got to play it tonight. Please was beautiful. Bad was simply amazing...and Wild horses was just too good to be true...Streets tore the roof off the place. As the lights flashed on, I just looked all around, and saw EVERYONE up and dancing. it was great...Still haven't found was great to hear again, and Pride just is an excellent set closer. The break was VERY short before Bullet, but it was the most amazing version that I've ever heard of that song. Very intense. What's Going On is a good song, and I have liked hearing it in there. New York was amazing, as Bono was right in front of us for a while, and ended up getting my friend's FDNY Shirt and wearing it the rest of the night. One is simply heartbreaking, just the names scrolling is something unbelievable, all the senselessness of September 11th scrolling up the screens. It was great to hear a longer version of "My Sweet Lord" after One. The "40" Plates during Walk On were part of a grand scheme that sounded great in line outside, but They never really circulated around the whole heart like they should have. Walk On was the final song in a celebration of a night, and it was the best I've heard it. It was great though to see Bono acknowledge the 40 plates and sing a couple of lines from the song. It was the perfect end to an amazing night, and an amazing tour. 8 shows, priceless memories.
