A good show by a great band. The crowd did not seem nearly as loud or as into the show compared to the Rose Bowl show, which I believe was one of the greatest outdoor U2 shows of all time. Perhaps it was because this show was in a baseball stadium and the configuration is not as intimate.
On to the show itself. The sound was excellent and the boys were great. Even Better is a great opening. Standard setlist with no surprises. Highlights included I Will Follow, Streets, Elevation to name a few. All I Want Is You has been a great addition and is one of my favorite U2 songs, but it should be placed at the end of the show as the fans continue the chords and the band is ready to play the next song.
Every show on the US leg has been exactly the same which is a bit frustrating. They have so many great songs to choose from but yet stick to the same core group of songs. How about bringing back Breathe or play FEZ, which would sound great live. Only in situations where there is a second night in a city (Only in Anaheim and Montreal) do they maybe change 1 or 2 songs. That is not enough to make it different and exciting.
I am hoping that night 2 in Anaheim will be better as I am taking my 9 year old son to his first U2 concert experience. Come on boys, put on something special tonight!!!!
