Well I've been to four U2 shows (Sydney 89,97; Cardiff 05) and this was twice as good as any of them. Probably more than that.
I really love the Claw and it added so much to the show. Bono really sounded as good as he ever has (wish though he'd do more of the 80s screams that only he can - stop trying to be someone else son!) and seemed to really enjoy himself.
Whereas in the past shows one or two songs they seemed to hit the mark - in this show most of them they seemed to get right. Maybe the sound was simply better where I was sitting but I don't think so.
Oddly enough one of the worst songs was probably 'Where the Streets Have No Name' I think because the high (which that song usually brings) had been hit just prior to that (in my opinion) with 'City of Blinding Lights'. That was just an extraordinary spiritual lift and the lighting was perfect.
Personally I look forward to U2 just getting better and better. What's next? Maybe they could put the Claw on the back of a plane and fly it around. Anything's possible!
Great work, boys.
