Last night concert at Azteca Stadium was TRULY AMAZING!!! We had been expecting 8 years to watch them again in our city, and the reception of the audience was incredible...
I had floor tickets and I was just outside the elipse, and i saw Bono 2 m. away from me, as well as Larry and Adam.
U2 changed the whole setlist giving everybody at the stadium a nice surprise... They opened with COBL when everybody was expecting Vertigo, and they did not play the Boy tracks, leading us to hear some of the Achtung Baby songs soon in the night. They also played New Year's Day, which was a great moment for me... After that, an 80,000 audience was singing along fo I Still Haven't Found, and Beautiful Day showed a great improvisation from Bono, as he adapted the "See the world in green and blue
See China right in front of you" to fit in the situation ("See the world in red and green, see Mexico right in front of you", as he also made reference to a bunch of other Mexican cities).
Bono sang with the entire audience a mexican song called Cielito Lindo, and later, he was singing right in front of me Miss Sarajevo, which was one of the highlights of the night.
After that, Pride, Streets and One were as great as you can expect when you play to one of the biggest and loudest audiences in the whole world.
The first encore led us to hear great versions of Zoo Station (with Bono doing the Zoo TV steps), The Fly and With or Without You.
For the 2nd encore they returned with All Because of You, and Yahweh, and (OH MY GOD!) they ended up a marvelous concert with a great version of 40 as bono took a spotlight and lighted up the audience ...
This is the complete setlist:
City of Blinding Lights
Vertigo
Elevation
Mysterious Ways
End of the World
New Year’s Day
Still Haven’t Found
Beautiful Day
Original of the Species
Sometimes
Love and Peace
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet The Blue Sky
Miss Sarajevo
Pride in the Name of Love
Where the Streets Have No Name
One
Zoo Station
The Fly
With or Without You
All Because of You
Yahweh
40
This is by far, the better concert I've ever been in. But maybe tonight I'll be in a better concert!!!
Later I'll post my pics ...
