This is the first U2 concert I ever saw, and one of many more to follow!
I had become a fan since the day I heard The Joshua Tree for the first time, but I was not prepared for the magic of this concert!!! My future husband and I had not-so-good tickets, but then just before closing on the day of the concert, we lucked into some great tickets through Ticketmaster( was it called that then, I can't remember!!)
Anyway the concert started and I was BLOWN away!
We had managed to bring a recording Walkman in, but all you can here on the tapes is us singing along at the top of our lungs. I still have the tapes, by the way.
Bono's presence on stage was mesmerising, and I still remember especially ' streets', 'with or without you'(this became our wedding song, because we slowdanced together for the first time to this song),'running to stand still', and of course the whole crowd singing'How long to sing this song'!!!! The singing went on forever; this was such a touching experience.
Since then I have become a fanatic fan.(my husband is still a fan as well, but I'm sure he wonders what he started when he so enthusiastically introduced me to their music). I support their 'causes', and have dragged many friends and m y daughter to see them. U2 definitely played a part in my future as an activist; they woke me up!!!!
