Arrived in time to see the Bravery, seemed OK but no-one was really watching to be fair. Next up Snow Patrol who were terrible! Well to give them the benefit of the doubt the sound was very poor, so it may not have all been down to them But was not impressed at all to be honest.
Then they came, starting with Vertigo and ending with, well, Vertigo. I have only seem U2 once before and that was at Slane in 2001 and that was fantastic so not fair to compare this to then but was a bit dissapointed with the crowd to be fair. I was standing nearish the front and in the middle and thought we would be right in amongst it, but C'Mon Manchester do you not know the words to any U2 songs???? during 'One' Bono even stopped singing to let the audience sing the chorus but even he realised that no-one was bothering (or did not know the words!
The performance was great, U2 were great, a few problems with Bono's earpiece led to a couple of raggy songs (On Mysterious ways Bono was well out on time) but overall a great gig But shame about some of the "fans". Oh and i saw Cat Dealy for a bonus!!
I will try and remember the set list but no doubt will miss a few and someone will correct me...
Vertigo
I Will Follow
City of Blinding Lights
Elevation
Crumbs from your table
New Years Day
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Bullet in the Blue Sky
Running to stand still
Where the streets have no name
Pride
One
The Fly?
Zoo Station?
Mysterious Ways
?
Vetigo
Mmm.. Losing it a bit there, too much excitment for one night (seeing Cat Dealy that is!;-)
But i am sure that someone else will provide the correct set list!
