This was our first of many Europe shows and it was a great start. Arrived at 11am to queue up at gate B and being near the front felt confident that we would get in the pit. After hours of speculation gates finally opened an hour late, however we found that the pit was already packed because security was appalling, we were bounced around from one place to the next trying to get a wrist band only to find that you only qualified if you were a fit bird or willing to pay the shady security guards a tenner (these were the rumours). Anyway- stood outside the pit near the barrier but decided to go to the unreserved seats because of being so knackered and the poor view.
The show- The Bravery and Snow Patrol were OK, as soon as we heard the Arcade Fire song we knew it was showtime.
Great sound, the band were really tight, nice to hear I Will Follow and Electric Co. Songs that now bore me such as One, SBS, Bullet and With or Without You even sounded excellent. The show compared to any Zooropa and Popmart show and we enjoyed it much more than Elevation.
Good points-
* The new songs especially Love and Peace, COBL and Sometimes..
* Closing with Vertigo- better than the first time as it was dark and the lights were great.
* The couple infront of us in the queue who gave us a Double Decker- cheers.
* The easy exit- we were back home for 11.30pm.
* The ZOO TV section- Zoo Station, The Fly were amazing.
Low points-
* The wristband fiasco
* Late entry into the stadium
Looking forward to tonight although the weather is crap.
