Despite the media review, not only was this show a religious experience, it was a life-altering experience to many there. I was 10 ft. from the tip,and it was amazing. I've followed the shows through U2 tours, so let me hit some highlights:
* I'm 32 years-old, have seen countless concerts, and the two things I can say I've never experienced is that the crowd stood for the entire show, and I never looked at my watch. Bono noticed the crowd a few times and even said "wow" a couple of times.
* Breaking into the Beatles' "Birthday" at the end of "Elevation" was really cool, because people in the heart had on birthday hats, was throwing glitter, and had Happy Birthday Bono signs
* Before "Stuck in a moment", Bono looked at the glitter flying around and said "Michael would have liked the glitter"
* For the first time that I'm aware of, Bono cut short the band introductions and Larry and Adam didn't walk out on the catwalk, which surprised them.
* "Stay" was unbelievable!
* No "Bad", no "In a little while", and I would like to tell you I'm disappointed, but what others have said is true, when you're there, you don't care.
* Bono pulling 25 girls onstage for "Mysterious ways" was a riot! The band was laughing as this was happening, and Bono said "I feel like Hef" at the end". The cool thing was it didn't get out of control, and the girls left peacefully at the end.
* The girl in front of me on the floor who broke down during "WOWY", and after the song, I said "You had a spiritual moment, didn't you?" She just nooded, and I said, "Well, I'm about to join you" as they started "One". She just gently placed a hand on my shoulder during the opening chords. That's what it's all about.
* When they had the back screens up during "WTSHNN", at the end it flashed "Happy Birthday Bono" across the screen, and Bono seemed to get a kick out of it.
For those who have seen 3,948 shows, I'm not sure this was the best. But for me, who has waited 20 years to see them, with all of the expectations that surround that, it was everything and then some.
