The show was incredible!! U2 is the undisputable king of modern stadium productions. The stage has been set for all to follow.
The production was not full of gimmicks as was the 1993 Zoo Tour. However, Popmart was succesful in upstaging the Zoo Tour production. What really scares me is "How will U2 upstage this show for their next tour"? For the fans reading this, you're location in the stadium where you're sitting probably does not matter too much. The huge screen directly behind the stage is an "awesome site". Even if you're in the nosebleed section you will still feel like you're intimately involved in the show. I am sure the commercial air traffic over Dallas/Ft. Worth was halted during the two hour show, due to the airplanes overhead pausing to catch their seemingly front row seats from the heavens above.
In regards to the Dallas set list, I was happy with the mix they played. It encompassed the old with the new. However, I would like to address one issue at this time. A large amount of media has been focusing some negative attention on U2 moving away from its roots or classic style. This criticism is not justified. I myself love the older U2 classics and would like to hear as much of them as possible. However, I can appreciate the creativity and transition U2 is undergoing, and face it their new stuff is fantastic. This is a good thing!! The best thing U2 can do for its fans is to continue to follow their instincts and not the mainstream. This is the magic which has made them the biggest rock band of our time.
