Flew out solo from the Washington DC area to SLC to catch this show. Glad I did, and was treated to a gem of a show! Stayed at a $40 dollars a night 50's style motel a block from the Delta Center called Creek City. Fans were already 30 people deep outside the Delta Arena around midnight. I decided to sleep a little because I may be crazy though those people in line starting at 8pm are by far crazier - well only by a couple hours. I walked over to the Delta Center around 5:30am were I became #84 in the "Unofficial" GA line. It was very cold, and snowing. The Delta Center did a great job in organizing the "Official" GA line at around 7 or 8am. I spent the rest of the day at Park City Resort snowboarding. I got back in line at around 4pm very sore from boarding, and waited in some very cold weather till the doors opened. I did not get scanned in the ellipse, nor did my line buddy Michelle. I sprinted out onto the floor, and was able to snag the outside rail on the left side of the ellipse next to the small stepping platform. I thought Kanye did a great job for an opening act. And, U2's performance from start to finish was awesome! Crowd energy was intense. There were times where I was thinking to myself, I can't believe it's this loud in this place. A SLC native girl next to me did mention prior to the show that U2 has always had a liking for the SLC fans, so expect a good show. Well, the band definately fed off the crowds enthusiasm, and I saw lots of smiles from the band. I even got to shake Adam's hand from the rail! Pushing was not too bad on the Ellipse rail, though the girl with one hand on the rail was glued next to me for most of the show. I was at the first Vertigo show in Philly from seats side stage lower bowl, and SLC absolutely blew Philly away. I've noticed that from the GA floor position, you can't see the cool floor light show as you would from the reserved seating. Met some really cool fellow fans. If there is a Hawaii, then I am there!
