Just got back from an emotion filled coffee pot called the Dunkin Donuts Center where Bono and the boys put on quite a show for the packed house. The set was much the same as the past few nights opening with new songs before transitioning into a medley of classics. Providence is a great place to see a show with its friendly confines and proximity to Boston's U2 fan base that Bono mentioned during Out of Control. The highlight of the show and maybe of all 16 shows I have attended over the years had to be when Bono made friends with a munchkin behind the stage. He climbed the folded up seats to kiss her hand during Bad and then while hanging suspended from the overhang twenty feet up sang "wide awake" to the end of the song before coming back down to the floor. As he did in New York and New Jersey (I was at that show and this one was better), Bono talked about how humbled, happy and honored the band is to be in the U.S. at this time and the names of the victims from the doomed flights of 9-11 and the NYPD and FDNY heroes were displayed during One. I am sure tomorrow will be another great night for those who go. Who knows when we will see U2 again.
