I am a student at Purdue University. The evening of November 21, rumors were flying around the internet about a U2 concert in Brooklyn the next day. This was confirmed by a source that I trust, so I made the decision to spend some money I had been saving for an on-a-whim purchase to buy a ticket to New York City. I arrived the morning of the 22nd, and after meeting up with my brother, I headed over to the park under the bridge.
It was well worth my time. I wound up as close to the stage as I've ever been for a U2 concert. The fans in attendance were all crazy for U2. We sang along, danced, threw our arms in the air, and had a great time. The band sounded great, and we got some good insights into a couple of their new songs.
The highlight of the night for me was Out Of Control. I had never heard it live, but it is easily one of my favorite songs. When they burst into it during their two-song encore, not only did I go nuts, but everyone around me did too.
The band looked thrilled to be up there playing. They're pumped about the new album, and they're going to do a heck of a tour in 2005. I can't wait to see them again.
