Here's goes my first review ever..
My seat was in the stand behind the stage and I was very happy that the 360 degree design with open stage, circular walkway and in your face video screen, meant that I felt just as much a part of it as from any part of the stadium (Red Zone and floor excepted!).
Jay-Z provided really good energy as a lead-in, but I think Stingray Guitar with house lights on didn't hit the right starting note. Beautiful Day and NYD were the real start for me.
I was very happy with the focus and execution by the guys, didn't think there were any false notes. Absolutely loved Until the End of the World and Miss Sarajevo, the mainstays such as With or Without You and Pride were great but I would have loved more songs that don't see as much light of day (Bad, Zooropa to name two).
I liked the "new" songs which I hadn't heard before.
Interesting was the use of the screens to deliver presentations after the main set and between encores. The effect was to remove the traditional "shout and scream" by the fans to get the band back. I missed it! It felt automated and removed some of the connection between audience and band that is so vital.
To offer these criticisms shouldn't mean that I came away disappointed, the guys put on a really good night.
Other great moments were the video flashbacks of Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby and the final walkoff, side by side to the back of stage (closest to us!). It almost brought a tear to eye, as though it would be the final time...
